Tips to help you on your fitness journey

Consistency is Key
How many of us train too hard for the first two weeks of a training programme only to burn ourselves out and then miss a week? Build gradually…….

Fad Diets
Juice based diets and low calorie diets can result in a dramatic decrease in body fat. However, this type of diet is not sustainable causing those who take part to return to their original state shortly after.

Be Goal Focused
Make sure your goals are SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound). Goals that are specific will keep you focused and are easier to monitor.

Educate Yourself
Research is key but use online journal papers rather than social media articles. Many online hints and tips aren’t based on scientific evidence and can be misleading.

Stress Management
Stress can cause weight gain for some and weight loss for others due to the production of the stress hormone cortisol. This hormone production can cause cravings for sweet, salty foods or lack of appetite. It can also affect how you store body fat.

Food Monitoring
Monitor your calorie intake on apps such as myfitnesspal to help you monitor and assess the macro (carbohydrate, fat and protein) content of your diet. It can also help monitor calories so that you can check if you are over eating or not eating enough.

Body Maintenance
Look after your body. Trips to the Physiotherapist, Chiropractor or Massage Therapist are all great ways to maintain a healthy body and prevent pain in the future.

Don’t Bully Yourself
Exercise should be enjoyable. Bullying yourself is not the best way to get the results you know you deserve. Believe in yourself and the results will come.

Good luck with it all and go for it x
